The Cracks Are Intentional
I felt broken…that's why I break my paintings.
Bella Rotta, meaning "Beautifully Broken" in Italian, reflects my belief that beauty often rises from what feels broken. For years I wrestled with perfectionism, hopelessness, and isolation. But I know that God does not make mistakes. It was through my own brokenness that He led me toward wholeness and inspired the creation of Bella Rotta, a revolutionary approach to art and a philosophy of life.
Each Bella Rotta painting is intentionally fractured, yet held together by a wooden foundation beneath.
The canvas is fragile alone and strong once it’s safe on its foundation. This is the heart of it all.
The Canvas Represents Us
Alone and isolated, we break and fall apart. But when we're supported by family, friends, community, and God, we find beauty together. We are safe in our brokenness.
That's why I call it Bella Rotta: Beautifully Broken.
Bella Rotta emerged from my own experiences in The Burnout Spiral and Blackout season, when everything felt dark, broken, hopeless. Creating with intention taught me that brokenness is not the end of the story. It is the moment we discover we are more resilient, more loved, more whole than we ever knew.
The Winter Bee Honey Harvest invites you to look back at your year. The sweet and the bitter. Bella Rotta says: all of it is beautiful. All of it matters. The cracks in your life are not flaws to hide. They are proof that you have survived something. And in surviving, you have become more whole.
We Are All

Rolinda Stotts grew up on a 275-acre dairy farm in Eastern Oregon, where she learned early that creation and survival walk hand in hand. At eight years old, she knew two things without doubt: God made her to be a creator, and she wanted to be thrilled and terrified in public as a bull rider. She became that "bull rider", not at a rodeo, but as an artist, author and speaker. The farm had been her first art teacher, showing her beauty in everyday moments, teaching her to work with her hands, and revealing that Work, Purpose, and Legacy are not separate, they are woven together.
Rolinda is the creator of The Burnout Spiral and The Reboot Remedy frameworks born from her own journey through Blackout and her years of research into what happens when humans abandon themselves. Her discovery: broken things, when intentionally restored with courage and truth and then supported by a safe foundation, become more beautiful than before.
The art technique called, Bella Rotta, was named and developed by Rolinda from her life and is now a daily art practice.
The layered textures of fracture and intentional beauty in Bella Rotta are the visual language of her philosophy..."Beautiful As Is" is not inspiration. It is survival.
Rolinda lives with her husband, Ammon, and continues to create, teach, and speak about the intersection of burnout, truth, and the human capacity to stay alive during the “winter“ season. For Winter always comes. And when it does, she shows others how to harvest their honey and stay alive.
